Norwegian scientist and artist Sissel Tolaas has dedicated her life and work to the world of smells. Our design for mono.kultur #23 contains no visual imagery, but 12 scents curated by Tolaas. The scents are literally printed into the magazine -- one has to rub the paper in order to release them. Glossy paper was chosen to contrast what Tolaas calls ‘difficult smells’. The typography was made to be as big and bold as possible within the rules of the mono.kultur design
