The Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) is a directorate under the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). We were asked to design the 2010 annual reports for both Oil for Development (OfD) as well as the Clean Energy programme.

The Oil for Development programme provides assistance to developing countries, upon their request, to bolster their efforts to manage petroleum resources. The operative goal of the programme is ‘economically, environmentally and socially responsible management of petroleum resources which safeguards the needs of future generations’.

Clean Energy for Development focuses on access to sustainable, affordable and reliable energy services in developing countries, which is crucial in achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDG), especially MDG 1 (to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger) and MDG 7 (to ensure environmental sustainability).

To compliment the general content, we wanted to give insight into experiences of Norad’s employees working out in the field throughout 2010, in order to show a human perspective as a context for the fact-based information. A section of each report was dedicated to private photos taken by these individuals throughout the year.

We used a colour index as a navigation tool, to separate the two reports.
